What was it all for?

The carnage and the suffering

when empires go to war

when peace became rebuilding

homes for heroes chant

building homes for our new homeless

the government says we cant

health must be rationed

to pay a bankers bill

and the old fear costly dementia

classified as not being ill

water belongs to China

power belongs to France

America pulls the purse strings

to make politicians dance

children resent their parents

now considered as a drain

not builders of fair society

so unfashionable again

the young need to be respected

taxpayers for old needs

that squandered their inheritance

with charitable deeds

a society cracked and selfish

almost rotten to the core

the way to unite and prosper

is to start another war
