I am a citizen I have rights

I am a citizen I have rights
I have money in my hand
I have a home to sleep at night
that is spacious but never grand

I pay my taxes if I'm forced

and spend without a care 

for I have a credit card

and a few pounds to spare


the hospital will tend to my needs

if my good health fails

and I can call on legal aid
to avoid a night in jail

but the soldier that fought for me
to keep my land so free

spends the night in a cardboard box
in alcoholic misery


jail awaits his vagrancy
no lawyers there to plea
for all the damage we did to him
is little concern for me


for I am free I have the vote
the politicians call
they will pander to my needs
and give the veteran bugger all
