when insects take the air
bring disease and pestilence
to incubate and share

looking for the fly swat
the fly paper roll
the spay can of insecticide
with no chemical arms control

those lazy days of summer
that intolerable heat
the sweat rash in the nether parts
from a PVC coated seat

so soon you miss the winter
with the fingers cold as ice
the darkness and depression
of that sterile paradise
