compassion in farming

In days of old we would see
Land produce for all our needs
Gave us food pesticide free
With chafe and stalk for animal feed
Hedgerows gone, fields drained
Loans for land improvement
Animals in cages contained
Farrowing crates with little movement
Now a movement has gained ground
Bring compassion back to farming
Then a price increase it was found
Which consumers found alarming

Import cheap food the people cry
Because it’s cheap, you ask not why
